The ring speeder is a battery powered (short endurance) eVTOL aircraft designed for closed circuit racing.  Similar in purpose to IRL open-rotor eVTOL aircraft that have emerged in the last few years, spectator racing provides a way to drive (fund) technology development in an evolutionary way.
